Mohsin Naqvi

May 5 1947, Mohsin was born in a neighbourhood called 'Muhallah-e-Sadat' in Dera Gazi Khan,in present day Pakistan.His Father Syed Chirag Hussain,was a saddle-maker and later worked as a food vendor.His parents had named him 'Ghulam Abbas' that in his later years was changed to 'Ghulam Abbas Mohsin Naqvi'. Mohsin had 6 siblings.

He did his Graduation from Govt. College Bosan Road Multan.He did his masters from University of Punjab Lahore. Mohsin Naqvi always spoke against terrorists who were defaming islam. Syed Mohsin Naqvi was gunned down by terrorists on 15 January 1996 at his residence in Lahore. His Funeral prayer was led by Tehreek Nafaz Fiqh-e-Jafariya (TNFJ) Chief Allama Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi at Nasir Bagh Lahore. Then his dead body was shifted to his ancestral city Dera Ghazi Khan, where he was laid to rest in presence of thousands of people.

He died at January 15, 1996, Village Sadat, Dera Gazi Khan.

Ahmad Faraz

Ahmad Faraz, born Syed Ahmad Shah on 12 January 1931in kohat  was a Pakistani Urdu Poet. He was acclaimed one of the modern Urdu poets of the last century. 'Faraz' is his Pen name, (in Urdu takhalus). He was awarded Halal-e-Imtiaz, Sitara-i-Imtiaz and after his death Halal-e-Pakistan by the government.


 Faraz has been compared with Faiz Ahmad Faiz holds a unique position as one of the best poets of current times, with a fine but simple style of writing Even common people can easily understand his poetry.



 Ahmad Faraz was arrested for reciting poems that criticised military rulers in Pakistan during the Zia-ul-Haq era. Following that arrest he went into a self-imposed exile. He stayed for 6 years in Britain, Canada and Europe before returning to Pakistan, where he was initially appointed Chairman Pakistan Academy of Letters and later chairperson of the Islamabad-based National Book Foundation for several years. He has been awarded with numerous national and international awards. In 2006, he returned the Hilal-e-Imtiaz award he was given in 2004.


 Faraz died from Kidney Failure in a local Islamabad hospital on 25 August 2008.
